The Ethics of Authoritarianism in Christian Perspective

open access: yesDialog, Volume 65, Issue 2, Page 76-83, Summer 2026.
ABSTRACT We look here at the characteristics of authoritarian government in the context of constitutional democracies and argue that its operative ethical system in public policy is egoism, with its supporters constituting a collective ego complicit in the undemocratic and Machiavellian practices used to sustain power and the authority of leadership to

Kant's Dialectic of Enlightenment

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, Volume 34, Issue 2, Page 639-655, June 2026.
Abstract Kant's moral thought emphasizes both our ability to make adequate, immediate moral judgment, as well as our deep‐seated forms of self‐entrapment. Abstract Language pedagogy activity (LPA) is central to the functioning of language classrooms worldwide, and this article (re)defines LPA. While prevailing applied linguistics conceptualizations of “activity” are often theoretical and anthropocentric, our definition of LPA is empirically supported and foregrounds material agency.

What Can the State of Nature Justify?

open access: yesPhilosophy &Public Affairs, Volume 54, Issue 2, Page 116-128, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT Social contract theory is one of the most popular approaches to political justification. While the state of nature account in social contract theory is generally invoked to justify the state's authority, I argue in this paper that no extant account succeeds in doing so.
