Identifying the True Willingness-To-Pay of Bayesian Respondents in a Dichotomous Choice Contingent Valuation Methodology [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper develops a respondent model of Bayesian updating for a double-bound dichotomous choice (DB-DC) contingent valuation methodology. We demonstrate by way of data simulations that current DB-DC identifications of true willingness-to-pay (WTP) may ...

Effects of the Invasive Round Goby on Swedish Recreational Fishing Values

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The round goby, an invasive fish from the Black and Caspian Seas, has spread to Swedish waters, threatening recreational fisheries. We modeled impacts on the future recreational fishery in Sweden using data from a recreational fishing survey, and estimated effects of the round goby on other fish species. Values attached to recreational fishing

To Grandmother's House We Go: Informal Childcare and Female Labor Mobility

open access: yesInternational Economic Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We document how childcare costs and the location of extended family influence the labor supply and mobility of US women. Women return to their home locations immediately before fertility events, suggesting that informal childcare needs may motivate home migration. Women who live near their parents have lower child earnings penalties.

Superior Clinical and Economic Value of IL‐23 Inhibitors Versus Adalimumab Biosimilars in Plaque Psoriasis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
A bicentric retrospective real‐world study (N = 616) comparing IL‐23 inhibitors (guselkumab, risankizumab, tildrakizumab) with adalimumab biosimilars in moderate‐to‐severe plaque psoriasis. It presents PASI90 response at Weeks 16 and 52, NNT, and cost‐effectiveness (incremental cost per responder, CE plane, CEAC/CEAF).

Cost‐effectiveness analysis comparing real‐time continuous glucose monitoring with self‐monitoring of blood glucose for patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin in Japan

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Real‐time continuous glucose monitoring (rt‐CGM) systems are associated with reductions in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and hypoglycemic events compared with self‐monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG). This analysis aimed to assess the cost‐effectiveness of rt‐CGM compared with SMBG in the management of people with T2D who require ...

Innovation, Licensing, and Competition: Evidence From Genetically Engineered Crops

open access: yesThe Journal of Industrial Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We provide a novel empirical analysis of the role of technology licensing, between competitors, for genetically engineered (GE) traits in the US seed industry. We extend the standard differentiated‐product Bertrand pricing model to include trait licensing, which permits us to recover marginal costs and (otherwise unobserved) royalty rates ...

Contingent Valuation Analysis of Willingness to Pay To Reduce Childhood Obesity [PDF]

open access: yes
Several recent surveys have asked Americans whether they support policies to reduce childhood obesity. There is reason for skepticism of such surveys because people are not confronted with the tax costs of such policies when they are asked whether they ...
