Multiscale controls on diurnal convection in the Maritime Continent: Insights from high‐resolution observations in Timika

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Across the Maritime Continent, diurnal rainfall variability is governed by interactions between regional‐scale atmospheric drivers and local land–sea breeze circulations. Afternoon convection is initiated over land by surface heating and propagates offshore, whereas morning rainfall develops over adjacent seas and moves inland under low‐level northerly

Attribution of subseasonal cold‐spell forecasts to remote drivers using nudging experiments

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Nudging experiments with the European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) model show that Northern European cold spells can arise from different drivers. Some events are predominantly influenced by stratospheric dynamics, while others also involve important tropospheric processes.

Cross‐Linking Mass Spectrometry of the Antimicrobial Peptides Magainin 2 and PGLa Reveals Heterodimerization in Micellar Medium

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rationale In this study, we applied cross‐linking mass spectrometry (XL‐MS) to characterize the oligomeric states of a PGLa/magainin 2 mixture and gain insight into the heterodimerization previously suggested in the literature. Both peptides have shown a synergistic enhancement of activity when tested in antimicrobial assays; however, the ...

Observer Design for Vector Nonlinear Systems With Applications to Autonomous Vehicles and Robots

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper focuses on observer design for nonlinear systems involving functions of vector arguments. The output equations and the process dynamics are both composed of nonlinear functions of nonseparable multivariable states. The partial derivatives of the nonlinear functions are assumed to be bounded.

Friction‐Aware Force‐Realizable Safety Control for Four‐Wheel Independently Steered and Driven Mobile Robots

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Safety‐critical control remains a major challenge for four‐wheel independently steered and driven (4ISD) mobile robots, where high‐accuracy path tracking and obstacle avoidance must be achieved under over‐actuated steering–driving coordination, tire–ground friction limits, and wheel‐torque constraints.
