Mode for reducing wind curtailment based on battery transportation

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2018
Renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, face several obstacles, including curtailment, where the generated energy exceeds local demand and production must be reduced because of limited transmission capacity.

Method on Hierarchical Coordinated Optimization of Electrical Energy Storage and Thermoelectric Power for Accommodation of Curtailed Wind Power

open access: yesZhongguo dianli, 2020
Large scale combined heat and power (CHP) units exist in Northern China, but their peak regulation capacities are limited due to the heating demand in winter. This results in the wind power curtailment problem in winter. Adding energy and thermal storage

Component Outage Estimation based on Support Vector Machine

open access: yes, 2018
Predicting power system component outages in response to an imminent hurricane plays a major role in preevent planning and post-event recovery of the power system.

Chance-Constrained Equilibrium in Electricity Markets With Asymmetric Forecasts

open access: yes, 2020
We develop a stochastic equilibrium model for an electricity market with asymmetric renewable energy forecasts. In our setting, market participants optimize their profits using public information about a conditional expectation of energy production but ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Commercial integration of storage and responsive demand to facilitate wind energy on the Shetland Islands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Northern Isles New Energy Solutions (NINES) project seeks to implement Active Network Management (ANM) on the Shetland Islands in a manner which reduces customers’ energy consumption, lowers peak demand and facilitates an increase in the proportion

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Acoustic exposure reveals variation in curtailment effectiveness at reducing bat fatality at wind turbines

open access: yesEcosphere
As the global transition to renewable energy generation continues, so does the need to reduce wind turbine‐related bat mortality. Curtailing turbine operation to prevent rotor movement at low wind speeds not only lowers risk but also decreases renewable ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Wind Energy Curtailment: Historical Case Study

open access: yes
Currently, renewable energy projects are growing, and one of the critical unforeseen consequences that has emerged is curtailment. This study focuses on characterizing a full dataset of real operational curtailed electricity from wind energy projects in one-hour time steps, obtained through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition over the years 2022 ...
