The Potential for Wind Energy in Nigeria
Wind Engineering, 2010This paper discusses some of the issues of wind energy development and utilization in Nigeria. It surveys the various initiatives of governments and researchers at assessing the prospects and availability of wind energy for electricity production and identifies indices suggesting wind availability. Inland, the wind is strongest in hilly regions of the

Wind energy potential in Pakistan
International Journal of Ambient Energy, 1984SYNOPSIS This paper is aimed at indicating the wind power potential in Pakistan. The mean wind speed data for 17 locations has been obtained from meteorological measurements over a period of 30 years. Rayleigh distribution has been employed to predict the wind power potential.

Wind energy potential in Turkey
Applied Energy, 1993Abstract Lewis's methods are employed to evaluate the wind energy potentials of four selected locations, which have experienced relatively high wind velocities. In addition to Lewis's methods, the relations connecting the instantaneous and average wind powers, total and maximum wind energies for a given period of time are derived.

The wind energy potential of Thailand
Solar Energy, 1985Abstract Routine wind data from meteorological stations have been used to determine seasonal wind speed distributions and mean power densities at the surface over Thailand. Analyses of hourly wind speeds at two stations show that Weibull distributions fit the data well, provided that observations of calm are excluded.

Wind energy potential of Algeria
Renewable Energy, 2000Mean wind data for 64 stations, 48 of which are located in Algeria and 16 in neighbouring countries has been used to establish the wind energy map of Algeria at a height of 10 m. It is found that the wind speed varies between 1 and 6 m/s. The windy regions are located at the west south of Algeria, in the Sahara.

Wind energy potential in Bahrain
Energy Conversion and Management, 1993Abstract The wind energy potential in Bahrain has not been studied thoroughly. A few attempts have been made, but none were extensive. Routine hourly wind data over a period of 6 years (1980–1985) have been analyzed. It was found that the country enjoys an average annual wind velocity of about 5 m/s.

Energy sector and wind energy potential in Turkey
Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2003Abstract Turkey has very limited indigenous energy resources and has to import around 65% of primary energy to meet her needs. It is a large importer of primary energy despite having ample renewable energy sources. Turkey’s vibrant economy has led to increased energy demand in recent years.
