The WELSONS experiment: overview and presentation of first results on the surface atmospheric boundary-layer in semiarid Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
International audienceThis study presents the preliminary results of the local energy budget and dynamic characteristics of the surface atmospheric boundary-layer (SBL) during the WELSONS (wind erosion and losses of soil nutrients in semiarid Spain ...

Micropatterned Biphasic Printed Electrodes for High‐Fidelity on‐Skin Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Micropatterned biphasic printed electrodes achieve unprecedented skin conformity and low impedance by combining liquid‐metal droplets with microstructured 3D lattices. This scalable approach enables high‐fidelity detection of ECG, EMG, and EEG signals, including alpha rhythms from the forehead, with long‐term comfort and stability.

Surface Roughness Characteristics and Their Influence on Wind Erosion and Sand Movement

open access: yesAtmosphere
Wind erosion significantly threatens sustainable development in desert regions, causing severe soil degradation. Investigating the influence of roughness elements on wind–sand interactions is vital for devising effective wind erosion control strategies ...

THE ROLE OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN PREDICTING ADOPTION OF WIND EROSION CONTROL PRACTICES [PDF]

open access: yes
Logit and ordered probit analyses were used to identify factors associated with reduced tillage adoption, continuous spring cropping, and the number of changes made in response to wind erosion.

The physics of wind-blown sand and dust [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The transport of sand and dust by wind is a potent erosional force, creates sand dunes and ripples, and loads the atmosphere with suspended dust aerosols.

Miniature Nanomesh Mechano‐Acoustic Sensor with Wide Linear Dynamic Range, Broad Bandwidth, and Flat Frequency Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized mechano‐acoustic sensor is developed using an electrospun PVDF nanomesh as the diaphragm in a capacitive sensor structure. Unlike conventional nanomesh‐based sensors, it achieves high linear sensitivity, a broad and flat frequency response, and a compact form factor.

The effect of vegetation patterns on Aeolian mass flux at regional scale: a wind tunnel study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Although insight on the effect of vegetation pattern on Aeolian mass transport is essential for re-planting degraded land, only limited knowledge on this effect is available.

New Insights into the Geography and Modelling of Wind Erosion in the European Agricultural Land. Application of a Spatially Explicit Indicator of Land Susceptibility to Wind Erosion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The current state of the art in erosion research does not provide answers about the ‘where’ and ‘when’ of wind erosion in European agricultural lands. Questions about the implications for the agricultural productivity remain unanswered.
