A quantitative review of wind farm control with the objective of wind farm power maximization
Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 2019Abstract This article presents a review of control strategies for maximizing power production within wind farms. Discussions focus on three notable concepts; power de-rating, yaw-based wake redirection, and turbine repositioning. Existing works that have examined the potential of these concepts via optimization studies, numerical simulation ...

Modeling of wind farm controllers
2006This paper describes modeling of wind farm controllers. The paper contributes to the IEA Annex XXI "Dynamic models of wind farms for power system studies" and was presented at the Annex XXI workshop in EWEC 2006. The wind farm controllers are developed with features, which make the wind farms able to participate in the control of the power system.

Wind farm control based on passivity
2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2010This paper presents a non linear control strategy for wind farms equipped with doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG) operating in a network with a complex load. First, taking into account an unitary power factor, droop (proportional) and inertial (derivative) classical controls are incorporated by considering a negative load behavior of the wind farm.

This document is a delivery in the project NORCOWE. It is part ofwork package WP3.2.2. The main goal is to establish the presentstate-of-the-art for wind farm control for both research and practice. The main approach will be to study the literature. This will of causebe much more efficient for the research part than for the practicepart.

Fundamentals of Wind Turbine and Wind Farm Control Systems
2019Wind is a randomly varying resource that needs to be appropriately tapped using wind turbines typically anchored to the ground and subjected to different torques and loads with changing atmospheric conditions. There are significant challenges in modeling such behaviors, and such issues become further complex in the case of offshore wind turbines, hilly

Wind turbine power control for coordinated control of wind farms
2011The new grid regulations require that a grid-connected wind farm acts as a single controllable power producer. To meet this requirement a traditional wind farm control structure, which allowed individual wind turbines to internally define their power production, has to be modified.

Controlling Wind in ECN`s Scaled Wind Farm [PDF]
ECN holds a patent called ‘Controlling Wind’ aiming at misaligning the upwind turbine in a row such that leeward turbines experience a higher wind and hence an increased power production. This concept was tested in ECN’s scaled wind farm; to our knowledge for the first time on such a scale and in field conditions.

Wind Tunnel Validation of a Wind Observer for Wind Farm Control
2017This paper describes the validation of a wind observer using LiDAR measurements obtained during a wind tunnel experiment. The setup represents a scaled wind farm composed of three actuated and sensorized wind turbine models operating in a turbulent boundary layer. Rotor loads and other wind turbine response data are used to estimate in real time during
