Series compensated open-winding PM generator wind generation system
2012 15th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (EPE/PEMC), 2012This paper presents a new wind power generation system utilizing an open-winding permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). A diode rectifier is used for the major portion of power conversion process. In addition, the proposed system controls the generated power by using an auxiliary voltage source inverter located at the neutral of the generator ...

Low wind speed wind generation scheme
Renewable Energy, 1994Conventional wind generators operating in widely fluctuating wind regimes suffer from low energy conversion efficiencies. In this paper a relatively simple scheme is described for increasing the power output of small wind-driven alternators at low wind speeds.

Wind power is a fast growing source of renewable energy. In this chapter, the process of conversion of the kinetic energy inherent in the wind to electrical energy is described. Numerous technologies exist and compete in order to achieve this objective, but in general, wind turbines and wind power plants (WPPs) rely on electrical machinery and power ...

Equivalent wind speed model of wind generation
IEEE PES T&D 2010, 2010The time series intervals of wind speed and wind power prediction are from a few minutes to ten minutes, which are used for power system energy dispatch, and the power is a mean value in the interval. But physical parameters for wind, such as instantaneous wind speed, maximum wind speed, average wind speed, cannot describe the relationship properly ...

Managing uncertainty of wind energy with Wind Generators Cooperative
2015 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2013Power systems around the world have set ambitious targets for renewable energy integration. Several jurisdictions incentivize renewables such as the Feed-in Tariff in Ontario, Canada. These incentives shall eventually run out and renewables would have to competitively sell energy into electricity markets, overcoming uncertainty and variability in their

The most apparent and usually the most important waves in the spectrum of waves at sea (see Figure 5.2) are those generated by the wind. Wind-generated waves are much more complex than the simple monochromatic waves considered to this point. We must briefly look into how these waves are generated by the wind and some of the important characteristics ...
