Although forces induced by winds account for only about 15% of the total forces acting on most offshore structures during periods of intense wind, water wave and current excitation, it is useful to review many of the salient features of wind loadings for two reasons.

This helpful guide focuses on the wind load provisions of Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures, Standard ASCE/SEI 7-10 , that affect the planning, design, and construction of buildings for residential and commercial purposes. The 2010 revision of the Standard significantly reorganized the wind load provisions, expanding them from ...

Bridges are facilities that are in exploitation outdoor. Often the wind is the leading horizontal force in the transverse direction. Therefore the bridges have received the due attention in the standards for wind loading. Unfortunately, in all available standards for wind load on the bridges, one, summarized value of the aerodynamic coefficient is ...

Wind loads on wind permeable facades
Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1994Abstract This paper presents results of a fundamental, experimental study on wind loading of porous facade systems. The important parameters — relative building dimensions, porosity, and gap width — have been varied systematically in a model scale study. Both time averaged and fluctuating pressures have been measured.
