Wind loads on parapets

Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 2002
Abstract A wind-tunnel study has been carried out to assess wind loads on parapets of two buildings. Local pressure coefficients were measured on models with a length to height ratio ( L / H ) of 1:1 and 2:1. Most of the results were obtained for full-scale equivalent parapet heights of 1 and 2 m and for wind directions of 0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°

The relationship of reliability to wind loading

Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1983
Abstract The paper presents the case for the wider application of reliability principles in the treatment of wind loading. Illustrations are given of its usefulness in the treatment of a variety of uncertainties concluding those associated with the estimation of internal pressures, of damping and also the influence of wind direction.

WIND LOADS ON STRUCTURES.

Journal of the Institution of Civil Engineers, 1950
Synopsis. From a review of existing knowledge of wind loads it is clear that, although many observations of wind velocities and pressures have been made, it is difficult to estimate their true significance with reference to the derivation of design loads.
