The results of a wind tunnel investigation of a model rotor with a free tip [PDF]

open access: yes
The results of a wind-tunnel test of the free tip rotor are presented. The free tip extended over the outer 10% of the rotor blade and included a simple, passive controller mechanism. Wind-tunnel test hardware is described.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Comparison of calculated and measured blade loads on a full-scale tilting proprotor in a wind tunnel [PDF]

open access: yes
The loads measured in a wind tunnel on a full-scale tilting proprotor are compared with calculated results. The data consists primarily of oscillatory beamwise bending moments at 35% radial station, oscillatory spindle chord bending moments, and ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

MOD-1 WTG dynamic analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
An analysis of the MOD-1 2000 kW horizontal axis wind turbine was given. The MOD-1 design was briefly described, and the analysis used to evaluate the dynamic loads and structural interactions is discussed. The resonant frequency placement, the treatment

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Anticancer sensitivities and biological characteristics of HCT116 cells resistant to the selective poly(ADP‐ribose) glycohydrolase inhibitor

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed alterations of PAR metabolism‐related proteins in PARG inhibitor‐resistant HCT116RPDD cells. Although PARG levels remained unchanged, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited reduced PARP1 and ARH3 expression and elevated PAR levels. Interestingly, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited slightly elevated intracellular NAD+/NADH and ATP levels. Our findings suggest a
