A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

Fatigue prediction of high-strength bolts in wind turbines

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong
The flange plate and blade root hub of wind turbines are connected by high-strength bolts, and the collapse of most wind turbine towers is caused by the fatigue of the connecting bolts.

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

A model to estimate the effect of variables causing erosion in wind turbine blades

open access: yesWind Energy, 2021
The quantification of the severity of erosion in wind turbine blades is challenging due to the many aspects involved, including meteorology, aerodynamics, materials science, and wind turbine dynamics.

Croatian wind power market

open access: yesFiscus, 2018
In the period from 2010 to 2016, wind power production in Croatia increased by 15 times, one of the reasons being high state financial incentives. Investments in wind farms have proven to be profitable and involving minimal risk, and credit institutions have consequently financed between 85 and 90% of total assets (projects). The main aim of this paper

Therapeutic applications of a novel humanized monoclonal antibody targeting chemokine receptor CCR9 in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
C–C chemokine receptor type 9 (CCR9) is an immune checkpoint in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Novel anti‐CCR9 antibody SRB2 was evaluated in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy in PDAC cells, patient‐derived organoids, patient‐derived xenografts, and humanized mouse models.

Hydrogen Liquefaction Process with Mixed Refrigerant Pre-cooling [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
A novel hydrogen liquefaction process based on precooled mixed refrigerant is proposed in this paper. The specific energy and the exergy loss are also analyzed.

Geophysical constraints on the reliability of solar and wind power in the United States

open access: yes, 2018
We analyze 36 years of global, hourly weather data (1980–2015) to quantify the covariability of solar and wind resources as a function of time and location, over multi-decadal time scales and up to continental length scales.

Very short-term spatial and temporal wind power forecasting: A deep learning approach

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems, 2019
In power systems that experience high penetration of wind power generation, very short-term wind power forecast is an important prerequisite for look-ahead power dispatch.

A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics approach to find potential serum prognostic biomarkers in glioblastoma patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics analysis of serum samples from GB patients and healthy controls showed that high levels of IL1R2 and low levels of CRTAC1 and HRG in serum are associated with poor survival outcomes for GB patients. These circulating proteins could serve as biomarkers for the prediction of outcome in patients with GB.
