Mycielski approach for wind speed prediction

Energy Conversion and Management, 2009
Abstract Wind speed modeling and prediction plays a critical role in wind related engineering studies. However, since the data have random behavior, it is difficult to apply statistical approaches with apriori and deterministic parameters. On the other hand, wind speed data have an important feature; extreme transitions from a wind state to a far ...

Wind speed prediction with Mycielski algorithm

2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference, 2009
Wind speed prediction is an important issue in wind related engineering studies. However, the wind data has random behavior like other meteorological events. Therefore, it is difficult to apply conventional statistical approaches. On the other hand, wind speed data has an important feature; large fluctuations from a wind state to a significantly ...

Correction method of wind speed prediction system using predicted wind speed fluctuation

2016 55th Annual Conference of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan (SICE), 2016
This paper describes a prediction of a wind speed fluctuation by using hierarchical neural network to improve the wind speed prediction. The future wind speed fluctuation (increase or decrease) is predicted with discrete value (1 or −1). The timing of the wind speed changes after 10 minutes is predicted. Time delay is confirmed during the predicted and

Design Wind Speed Prediction

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2003
Structures are designed with the intention of safely withstanding ordinary and extreme loads over the entire intended economic lifetime. Designation of appropriate design levels is especially difficult for natural processes, for which many decades of reliable data are desirable, but is often basically unattainable.

Extreme Wind Speeds and Their Prediction for Wind Turbines

Wind Engineering, 2013
The precise knowledge of occurrence of extreme wind speed for wind turbine design is of utmost importance. This paper describes the extreme value theory, especially the Fisher-Tippett generalized extreme value distributions. On this basis, Gumbel's hypothesis that merely recording of annual extreme events for a duration of ten years or more can ...

Short-term prediction models for wind speed and wind power

The 2014 2nd International Conference on Systems and Informatics (ICSAI 2014), 2014
This paper discusses the short-term prediction of wind power and wind speed. The test data is collected at a wind power station in 30 seconds interval. A time-series model and a neural network prediction model are applied for predicting the wind speed and wind power predictions. The performances of prediction of different time points are compared.

Wind energy potential estimation with prediction of wind speed distribution

International Journal of Intelligent Systems Technologies and Applications, 2018
Integration of renewable distributed generation technology with radial power distribution system is rapidly growing. Among the number of available renewable energy sources, the role of wind energy in the power sector is very important. In this work, authors have estimated the wind energy potential at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India. Estimation of

A novel hybrid approach for wind speed prediction

Information Sciences, 2014
Abstract It is important to improve the accuracy of wind speed predictions for wind park management and for conversion of wind power to electricity. However, due to the chaotic and intrinsic complexity of weather parameters, the prediction of wind speed data using different patterns is difficult.

Multivariate regression models for prediction of wind speed

2014 International Conference on Data Science & Engineering (ICDSE), 2014
As we progress in both time and technology, our energy needs are rising at an exponential level and hence we need to tap unconventional sources of energy more efficiently. Wind energy is one such source and this paper presents a method to predict the speed of wind, on which the wind energy generated, depends more efficiently and hence avoid both costly
