Wind turbine blade fixing mechanism

2017 International Conference on Energy, Communication, Data Analytics and Soft Computing (ICECDS), 2017
In this paper the blade fitting mechanism is developed. In this mechanism various types of blades can be fitted. The pitch angle of the blade can also be varied. Cylinders are welded to the hub. Another cylinder with small diameters is welded to a metallic square strip is welded to the blade with one square plate.

Variable length blades wind turbine

IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2005, 2005
Energy Unlimited Inc has developed variable length wind turbine blades. These blades are fitted with a tip that automatically extend outwards in response to light winds and retract in stronger winds. This action allows higher energy capture in low wind conditions, while minimizing mechanical loads in high wind conditions.

Intelligent blade for wind turbines

20th 2001 ASME Wind Energy Symposium, 2001
Simulation and testing to develop an Intelligent Blade for wind turbines is presented in this paper. The concept blade has an integrated sensor system for structural health monitoring that will continuously monitor the condition of the blade, warn of initiating damage, and provide instant information that can be used to regulate loading in the blade to

Optimisation of wind turbine blades

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2005
Abstract The manufacturing cost of WT blade is about 15–20% of wind turbine production cost. The expenses of innovations in design of blades represent the small amount of overall cost of wind turbine production. Profits coming from better structural model, use of suitable composite materials and better techniques of manufacturing, both the blades and

COMPOSITE MATERIALS FOR WIND POWER TURBINE BLADES

Annual Review of Materials Research, 2005
▪ Abstract  Renewable energy resources, of which wind energy is prominent, are part of the solution to the global energy problem. Wind turbine and the rotorblade concepts are reviewed, and loadings by wind and gravity as important factors for the fatigue performance of the materials are considered.

Reliability-based design of wind turbine blades

Structural Safety, 2011
Reliability-based design of wind turbine blades requires identification of the important failure modes/limit states along with stochastic models for the uncertainties and methods for estimating the reliability. In the present paper it is described how reliability-based design can be applied to wind turbine blades.

Wind turbine blade inspection

2020

An Anthropomorphic Wind Turbine Blade

Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 2019
This study presents a new wind turbine blade design for overcoming the restrictions of large-scale wind turbines deployment. The road design, terrain nature, and logistic capabilities represent the main barriers to maneuver blades during a journey to a windy site.

Modal Response of 3-Bladed Wind Turbines

ASME 2002 Wind Energy Symposium, 2002
A set of linear equations describing the motion of an operating 3-bladed HAWT are obtained from the dynamic characteristics of the stationary turbine by adding rotating frame effects. The approach makes use of the Coleman multi-blade transformation to present all results relative to the fixed frame.
