Fault Diagnosis of Wind Turbine Gearboxes
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Abnormal vibration appeared when experimental tests was carried out on gearboxes of a 1.5MW wind turbine. In this paper, Time-domain and frequency- domain analysis of test data was implemented based on the method of wavelet denoising, the fault location was determined, and the vibration fault indicators and frequency components were obtained.

A gearbox is often used in a wind turbine to increase the rotational speed from a low-speed main shaft to a high-speed shaft connecting with an electrical generator. Gears in wind turbine gearbox are subjected to severe cyclic loading due to variable wind loads that are stochastic in nature.

Dynamic Characterization of Wind Turbine Gearboxes in Operational Conditions
2015The gearbox is one of the key subsystems in a typical wind turbine. It has the task to transfer power from the low speed shaft connected to the rotor to the high speed shaft connected to the generator. Larger wind turbines require more power and gearboxes with higher load capacity need to be designed and a deep knowledge into gearbox dynamics becomes ...

Probabilistic Multibody Modeling of Gearboxes for Wind Turbines
Volume 7: Dynamic Systems and Control; Mechatronics and Intelligent Machines, Parts A and B, 2011Gearboxes have been prone to early failure rather than any mechanical part of modern wind turbines, much earlier than their predicted design life. Some studies indicated that gearboxes of wind turbines fail during the first 3 to 5 years of operation of the system as opposed to the total design life of the wind turbine, which usually is 20 years ...

Dynamic Modeling of the Gearbox Transmission for the Wind Turbine
Volume 15: Sound, Vibration and Design, 2009In this paper, the dynamic model of the gearbox transmission for the wind turbine is proposed. The influence factor method is used to derive of the system’s dynamic equations, the natural characteristics of the transmission are obtained and the results are discussed. Finally, the influence of basic parts’ moment inertia on the natural characteristic is
