Robust Control Using a Matrix Converter to Enhance Wind Turbine Systems
This study uses a more efficient and effective solution to improve the operational performance of a wind turbine‐based power system. This system uses a doubly fed induction generator and relies on a matrix converter and fractional‐order proportional–integral controller.

Comparison of Power and Thrust Performance for a Fixed and Floating Offshore Wind Turbine
ABSTRACT Floating offshore wind turbines have been identified as a critical technology for sustainable electricity generation. Wind resource assessment is used to determine optimal locations for floating wind farms. However, current methodologies do not account for performance differences between fixed and floating turbines due to wind‐ and wave ...

Experimental Characterization of Wind Turbine Gearbox in Operation [PDF]
The gearbox is one of the key subsystems in a geared wind turbine, as it must transfer the power from the low speed shaft connected to the rotor to the high speed shaft connected to the generator. As turbines become larger, more power can be generated, but consequently gearboxes with higher load capacity need to be designed.

ABSTRACT As wind energy continues to expand, ensuring the reliability of wind turbines is critical for optimising operational efficiency and minimising downtime. Based on maintenance data from over 1,000 onshore and offshore wind turbines covering more than 4200 operating years, this study presents an analysis of wind turbine failure behaviour over ...

Modeling, Validation, and Control of the IEA‐15 MW Reference Wind Turbine and VolturnUS‐S Platform
ABSTRACT This paper presents the acausal modeling, validation, and control of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs). The model simulates the IEA‐15 MW reference turbine and the semi‐submersible VolturnUS‐S platform utilizing a Control‐oriented, Reconfigurable, and Acausal Floating Turbine Simulator (CRAFTS), which integrates the key coupled aero ...
