Passing vehicles generate short‐duration wakes that can be redirected toward a vertical‐axis turbine. The interaction between wake structure, blade count, and rotational speed governs transient torque production. Low‐solidity configurations combined with tuned rotational speed enhance energy extraction under vehicle‐induced gusts.

Wake and Turbulence Analysis for Wind Turbine Layouts in an Island
There is a big wind energy potential in supplying the power in an island and most of the islands are off-grid. Due to the limited area in island(s), there is need to find appropriate layout / location for wind turbines suited to the local wind conditions.

Interaction Between Vortex‐Induced Vibrations and Base Vibrations in Piezoelectric Harvesters
ABSTRACT In the present era, powering sensors using green energy is a significant challenge. One promising solution for the power supply of small sensors relies on piezoelectric energy harvesters excited by vortex‐induced vibrations (VIVs) generated by wind.

A New Study on the Effect of the Partial Wake Generated in a Wind Farm
In this article, we present an investigative study on the often-overlooked partial wake phenomenon in previous studies concerning wind farm configurations. A partial wake occurs when a portion of the actuator disk of a downstream wind turbine is affected

Renewable energy is vital for reducing carbon emissions and yet its infrastructure poses challenges to biodiversity. While the impacts of wind power on bats and raptors are well‐studied, the effects on elusive species remain largely unknown. The Eurasian woodcock Scolopax rusticola, a nocturnal forest bird, performs characteristic courtship flights at ...

CFD and aeroelastic analysis of the MEXICO wind turbine [PDF]
This paper presents an aerodynamic and aeroelastic analysis of the MEXICO wind turbine, using the compressible HMB solver of Liverpool. The aeroelasticity of the blade, as well as the effect of a low-Mach scheme were studied for the zero-yaw 15m/s wind ...

ABSTRACT We examine how mergers and acquisitions (M&As) enable firms to adapt to climate policy shocks. Exploiting the adoption of the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Budget Trading Program (NBP) across US states as an exogenous shock, we find that firms with NOx‐emitting plants subject to the NBP are more likely to engage in M&As, particularly through vertical ...

Effect of Upstream Turbine Tip Speed Variations on Downstream Turbine Performance [PDF]
A wake study and combined power output analysis of an array of two model wind turbines is presented. In a wind farm arrangement wakes behind the upstream turbines directly affect the performance and structural loads of the downstream turbines.
