Load Estimation of Offshore Wind Turbines
The influence of 3 MW Hywind-II wind turbine wakes from an upstream offshore floating wind turbine on a downstream turbine with a separation distance of seven rotor diameters was studied for a site in the Gulf of Maine.

Theoretical Modeling of Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine Wakes [PDF]
In this work, two different theoretical models for predicting the wind velocity downwind of an H-rotor vertical-axis wind turbine are presented. The first model uses mass conservation together with the momentum theory and assumes a top-hat distribution for the wind velocity deficit.

Numerical simulations of wind turbine wakes
In recent years, the size and capacity of wind farms have increased significantly, as larger turbines are being clustered together to take advantage of the available wind resource. In large-scale wind farms, the downstream wind turbines will inevitably operate within the wake of the upstream ones. This leads to an apparent reduction of the power output

Wake Characteristics of Large-scale Wind Turbines [PDF]
The next generation of large-scale wind turbines will exceed 10 MW of rated power and will reach rotor diameters of about 200 m. Their rotor aerodynamics are also extreme with Reynolds numbers that reach 40 million.

Multifractal analysis of turbulent wakes for model wind turbines using large eddy simulation [PDF]
Over the last years it has become evident that one of the greatest problems during wind turbine operations is related to intermittency between turbulent flow and the blades.

Modelling wind turbine wakes for wind farms
The simulation of the wakes behind wind turbines is important in predicting energy yields in wind farms, and so plays a role in planning the layout of these farms. As both wind turbines and farms increase in size, wind farm modellers have faced challenges as previously-held assumptions and parameterisations become inadequate – requiring more detailed ...

Spectral coherence in wind turbine wakes
Abstract Spectral coherence in the wake of a wind turbine situated in a wind farm has been investigated. Results are presented for lateral coherence at two heights with 5 m separation and vertical coherence at 13 m separation at different downstream stations in the wake. Also presented is the decay of turbulence generated by the wake.
