Paper windows

Proceedings of the SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2005
In this paper, we present Paper Windows, a prototype windowing environment that simulates the use of digital paper displays. By projecting windows on physical paper, Paper Windows allows the capturing of physical affordances of paper in a digital world.

Further Experience With the Round Window Ultrasonic Technique

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1968
THE ROUND window irradiation technique simplifies the ultrasonic treatment of patients suffering from Meniere's disease. In this technique the vestibule and the ampullae of the lateral and superior canals are irradiated with a small dose of ultrasonic energy directed into the vestibule through the round window.

Windows—types and inspection techniques

Structural Survey, 1983
Although it may be said that man sees the world through a window a surveyor can see much of the condition of a building in a window. From the narrow windows of the massive constructions of medieval times, the development of the structural frame with infill enabled windows to be enlarged.

A design technique for window functions

Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part II: Electronics), 1999
This paper describes a novel and simple design technique for windows in the form of a weighted sum of cosine terms. First, it is made clear that not only does there not exist a basic difference between the Blackman–Harris windows and the Z-window proposed by Zhong and colleagues, there is just a difference in mathematical expression, because the ...

Windowing technique for Lazy Sorting of Encrypted data

2015 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS), 2015
In computer science literature, sorting is an age-old theoretically interesting problem with great practical importance. In this paper, we discuss the effect on sorting when the comparisons are erroneous. Such an analysis would be in particular effective for secured cloud data which is Fully Homomorphically Encrypted (FHE) and the sorting is intended ...

Comparison of windowing techniques for speech recognition system

2018 26th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2018
Speech recognition, which provides the ability to manage intelligent devices, aims to improve the prediction skill of these devices by extracting the necessary information from the speech signal. In this study, with examination of past researches, a speech recognition system with high quality for efficient speech recognition is suggested, and ...

Fingerprint Image Postprocessing Using Windowing Technique

2008
Performance of Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) is greatly affected by its matching rate, means it should have low False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and False Rejection Rate (FRR). Minutiae based fingerprint matching techniques are normally used for fingerprint matching.

Orchiopexy: A new anchoring technique, window septopexy

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1972
Abstract Once the testis can be placed well down in the scrotum without tension, a number of suggestions have been made for keeping it in the orthotopic position. Torek, in 1931, simplistically sutured the testis to the fascia of the ipsilateral thigh, leaving it in this unusual position for several months; 1 it was then released in a second stage ...
