KDAC6 alters cell morphology and motility through positive and negative modulation of F‐actin distribution

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KDAC6 has been associated with cell motility and actin structures, but specific domain contributions are not established. The two catalytic domains have differential effects on motility and F‐actin regulation, affecting cortical F‐actin density, motility, stress fibers, and cell spreading.

Identification of (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 compound

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a noninfectious BAC‐based SARS‐CoV‐2 replicon that enables antiviral screening under BSL‐2 conditions. Using this platform, we screened 373 food‐derived compounds and identified (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel inhibitor of SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA replication, highlighting the value of safe replicon systems for antiviral ...

Evolution‐guided yeast complementation reveals functional differences in human PSPH variants

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Ancient genomes can help guide which human genetic variants are tested experimentally. This study applies that idea to PSPH, a gene involved in serine biosynthesis, and uses high‐throughput yeast complementation to compare variant function. The findings reveal measurable differences among selected alleles and illustrate the value of evolution‐guided ...

Visual Stimulation by Viewing a Seascape from a High-Rise Window Increases Subjective Relaxation and Left–Right Differences in Prefrontal Cortex Activity

open access: yesBuildings
Stress states are increasing with global urbanization, but evidence on the physiological impact of urban blue-space exposure remains limited compared to green spaces.

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

The psychological mediations of green window view exposure on campus and freshman adaptation: a cross-sectional study in Nanjing, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Forests and Global Change
Campus green window views function as vital micro-scale urban forests for students, offering mental health benefits. However, the quantitative links between perceived green window view characteristics and the psychological adaptation of university ...

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.
