Dynamic Windows Scheduling with Reallocation

open access: yes, 2014
We consider the Windows Scheduling problem. The problem is a restricted version of Unit-Fractions Bin Packing, and it is also called Inventory Replenishment in the context of Supply Chain.

Relevant energy ranges for astrophysical reaction rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Effective energy windows (Gamow windows) of astrophysical reaction rates for (p,gamma), (p,n), (p,alpha), (alpha,gamma), (alpha,n), (alpha,p), (n,gamma), (n,p), and (n,alpha) on targets with ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

KnowledgePro windows: The order of merit? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The producers of KnowledgePro look set with their latest release of KPWIN (KnowledgePro Windows) to fulfil Richard Hale‐Shaw's prophecy that it will become ‘one of the most powerful visual development environments’ (Hale‐Shaw 1992). Comparisons are drawn

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

”Windows of Synchronization” and ”Non-chaotic Windows” [PDF]

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings and Surveys, 2014
The dynamic of a chaotic dynamical system changes if we couple it together with another one. The changes depend on the dynamic of the systems and on the way the coupling is made. The strength of the coupling is controlled by the coupling strength constant. For some values of this constant synchronization may occur, defining a “window of synchronization”

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Using portable monitoring for heterogeneous clusters on Windows and Linux operating systems

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2003
This paper describes the advances obtained with the XPVM-W95 2.0, a novel monitoring tool for parallel applications that employ PVM-W95 (PVM for Windows) as well as PVM for Linux.

Community perceptions and acceptability of insecticide-treated screens for mosquito proofing of unimproved houses in Chalinze district, Tanzania: a mixed-methods study

open access: yesFrontiers in Malaria
BackgroundUnimproved housing is a risk factor for malaria. Therefore, netting incorporated with deltamethrin and piperonyl butoxide, supplied as a roll to screen opened eaves, windows, and holes in the walls of unimproved houses, could offer protection ...
