Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) has emerged as a valuable method for investigating the feeding ecology of vertebrates. Over the past decade, three‐dimensional topographic data from microscopic regions of tooth surfaces have been collected, and surface texture parameters have been published for both extant and fossil species.

Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) has become a well‐established method for dietary inference and reconstruction in both extant and extinct mammals and other tetrapods. As the volume of available data continues to grow, researchers could benefit from combining published data from various studies to perform meta‐analyses.

Analysis of vibrations of beams on viscoelastic winkler foundations
The complex modal analysis is applied to investigate vibrations of finite beams on viscoelastic Winkler foundations. The complex frequency equations and modal functions are obtained under simply supported boundary conditions.

Broadening the semiaquatic scene: Quantification of long bone microanatomy across pinnipeds
Abstract Investigations of bone microanatomy are commonly used to explore lifestyle strategies in vertebrates. While distinct microanatomical limb bone features have been established for exclusively aquatic and terrestrial lifestyles, identifying clear patterns for the semiaquatic lifestyle remains more challenging.

Abstract Softshell turtles (Pan‐Trionychidae) are an early branching clade of hidden‐necked turtles (Cryptodira) with a rich fossil record extending back to the Early Cretaceous. The evolutionary history of softshell turtles is still unresolved because of their conservative morphology combined with high levels of polymorphism related to morphological ...

The vibration of nanobeam resting on elastic foundation using modified couple stress theory
In this paper, the vibration of nanobeams resting on the Winkler foundation is proposed using the modified couple stress theory. Hamilton’s principle is utilized to construct the governing equations.

A generalised Winkler model for the behaviour of shallow foundations
A theoretical model is described for the behaviour of rigid foundations subjected to combined vertical, horizontal and moment loading. The model is based on a generalisation of the Winkler concept of subgrade reaction. Non-linearity of the stress–displacement response is introduced using the concepts of hyperplasticity, and the integration of the ...

Abstract Differences in skull and tooth morphology, stomach contents, and estimated bite force between medium‐to‐large sized (≥100 kg) predatory theropod dinosaurs have long been suspected to correlate with differences in their diets and dietary guilds (e.g., hypercarnivory, piscivory).

Vibration of FG Shell Rested on Winkler Foundation [PDF]
Abstract Love’s first a pproximation theory is employed with the combination of Winkler term for the vibration of functionally graded cylindrical shell. MATLAB software is utilized for the vibration of functionally graded cylindrical shell with elastic foundation of Winkler and t he results are verified with the open literature.
