Target‐site mutations and phenotypic failure in Myzus persicae against pyrethroids and carbamates in central Europe

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Molecular screening of 140 field‐collected Myzus persicae aphids revealed target‐site mutations L1014F, M918L, M918T, and L932F in the sodium channel and S431F in Ace2. The M918L mutation was the primary driver of high pyrethroid (cypermethrin) resistance, while S431F served as a definitive marker for carbamate (pirimicarb) resistance.

Modelling Winter Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) Growth and Yield under Different Sowing Dates and Densities Using AquaCrop Model

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
The sowing date and density are considered to be the main factors affecting crop yield. The determination of the sowing date and sowing density, however, is fraught with uncertainty due to the influence of climatic conditions, topography, variety and ...

Insect pests in Brassica napus crops: toward ecologically optimized integrated pest management

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Ecologically optimized IPM: Integrating landscape, biological, and chemical strategies for enhanced pest management. Key findings: Optimizing canola IPM requires the deliberate alignment of habitat diversification, behavioral conditioning, and evolutionary processes.

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Home range shifts and habitat selection across life‐history stages in grey partridges

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Understanding how birds use space throughout the year is essential for effective conservation planning, even in resident species. We investigated seasonal space use in a Central European population of grey partridges Perdix perdix, a rapidly declining residential farmland bird.

Lipid components and oxidative status of selected specialty oils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Many vegetable oils are marketed as specialty oils because of their retained flavors, tastes and distinct characteristics. Specialty oil samples which were commercially produced and retailed were purchased from local superstores in Reading, UK ...

Achievements in NS rapeseed hybrids breeding [PDF]

open access: yesSelekcija i Semenarstvo, 2016
The increased production of oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) is evident on a global scale, but also in Serbia in the last decade. Rapeseed is used primarily for vegetable oil and processing industry, but also as a source of protein for animal feed and ...

Rapid non‐destructive assessment of leaf water status with low‐cost transmittance meters

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Tools for more efficiently managing agricultural production and the use of limited water resources are required in the context of a growing global population, while the increasing threat posed by droughts and wildfires necessitates improved methods for risk assessment, forecasting and early warning. Quantifying leaf water content is central to

Integrative Analysis of the Methylome, Transcriptome, and Proteome Reveals a New Mechanism of Rapeseed Under Freezing Stress

open access: yesAgronomy
Winter rapeseed is susceptible to freezing stress during winter, making it difficult to overwinter safely and resulting in a reduction of yield and quality.

Assessing the host plants of the invasive apricot aphid, Myzus mumecola (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We investigated the host plants of the invasive apricot aphid Myzus mumecola (Hemiptera: Aphididae), an emerging pest species in Europe, by combining molecular and ecological approaches. The winter host plant was confirmed as apricot by both methods.
