Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing of Metals

2020
Wire + Arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) processes have become popular because of their proven capabilities to produce large metallic components with high deposition rates (promoted by arc-based processes) compared to conventional additive manufacturing processes such as powder bed fusion, binder jetting, direct energy deposition, etc. The applications

High-strength wire + arc additive manufactured steel

International Journal of Materials Research, 2020
Abstract High-strength 690-MPa steel was prepared using a wire + arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) technology. The phase composition, microstructure, and crystal structure of highstrength 690-MPa steel samples were analysed, and the results show that a sample prepared using WAAM technology achieves a good formation quality.

WIRE ARC ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING IN STEEL FOUNDRIES

2023
This work presents the system design of a robotic hybrid additive and subtractive manufacturing system for steel foundries to reduce supply chain disruptions caused by a skilled labor shortage and harsh working conditions. Automation promises to ease the labor shortage but falls short in environments with high variation and ambiguous decision-making ...

A review of wire arc additive manufacturing and advances in wire arc additive manufacturing of aluminium

Materials Science and Technology, 2018
Although wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) has proven its capability of fulfilling demands of production of medium-to-large-scale components for automotive and allied sectors made up of aluminium, at present, WAAM cannot be applied as a fully fledged manufacturing process because of practical challenges such as under-matched mechanical properties,

Laser enhancement of wire arc additive manufacturing

ICALEO 2018: 37th International Congress on Applications of Lasers & Electro-Optics, 2018
Additive Manufacturing (AM) can be used for the fabrication of large metal parts, e.g. aerospace/space applications. Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) can be a suitable process for this due to its high deposition rates and relatively low equipment and operation costs.

Technological Processes for Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing

2023
One of the most used technologies that has been rapidly developing in recent years is related to the application of 3D printing. Layer by layer luilding of details through selective remelting or sintering processes is based on different welding (or similar) processes. Metals, polymers and ceramics in the form of powder or wire are used as materials for
