Unraveling Mixed‐Defect Transformations and Passivation Dynamics in Silicon Heterojunction Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Defects in materials coexist in multiple forms, undergo dynamic transformations, and influence the material properties. Here, the dynamic transformations of passivation‐related defects in silicon heterojunctions are revealed through the decomposition of dual‐phase capacitance transients.

Surface Wrinkling of Plasma‐Exposed PDMS is Caused by Water Vapor Sorption: An Optical Environmental Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wrinkling of soft materials, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), underpins a myriad of technologies. Plasma‐oxidation of PDMS induces spontaneous wrinkling, which is canonically attributed to thermal expansion‐contraction of bilayers. Employing experiments and modelling, it is demonstrated that sorption of water vapor is instead responsible for ...

Wireless Biosensor System for Real-Time L-Lactic Acid Monitoring in Fish

open access: yesSensors, 2012
We have developed a wireless biosensor system to continuously monitor L-lactic acid concentrations in fish. The blood L-lactic acid level of fish is a barometer of stress.

High Dynamic Range Thin‐Film Resistive Flow Sensors for Monitoring Diverse Biofluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thin‐film resistive flow sensors with thermoresistive and piezoresistive mechanisms are developed for biofluid monitoring. Fabricated using biocompatible materials and laser micromachining, the devices achieve sub‐millimeter dimensions and a broad dynamic range.

Monitoring of Water Content in Building Materials Using a Wireless Passive Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2010
This paper describes an innovative design of a wireless, passive LC sensor and its application for monitoring of water content in building materials. The sensor was embedded in test material samples so that the internal water content of the samples could
