Spontaneous Teratoma in a Wistar Rat

open access: yesExperimental Animals, 1983
A spontaneous tumor was found in the left adrenal gland of a 35-day-old male Wistar rat. Histologically, the tumor consisted of various tissues derived from all three embryonic germ layers, i.e. the ectoderm (nervous tissue and skin), mesoderm (striated muscle, bone and cartilage), and endoderm (glandular tissue).

Bioadhesive‐Integrated 3D‐Printed Multilayer Scaffolds Secure a Mechanically‐Stable Osteoimmune Niche for Enhanced Bone Augmentation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A 3D‑printed multilayer adhesive scaffold, firmly anchored to bone defects by simple finger pressing, suppresses micromotion and secures mechanical stability of the osteogenic niche. This stabilization likely contributes to the enhanced bone augmentation by fostering a pro‑regenerative mechano‐immune profile—characterized by M2‑like macrophage ...

The Effect of High- and Moderate-intensity Endurance Training on Some Anabolic/Catabolic Osteokines in Old Male Wistar Rats

open access: yesResearch in Molecular Medicine, 2021
Background: Bone-related osteokines are crucial for bone function and metabolic response to physical activity. The present study aimed to shed light on the effect of different intensities of continuous and interval endurance training on the serum levels ...

The Antidiabetic Potential of Alpha‐Mangostin: A Review of Preclinical and Clinical Evidence

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Alpha‐mangostin is a compound from the pericarp of Garcinia mangostana. The antidiabetic effects of alpha‐mangostin include enhancing insulin secretion, improving glucose uptake through GLUT receptor upregulation, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, promoting wound healing, reducing HbA1C, reducing HOMA‐IR index, and decreased mRNA expressions ...

Toward Predictable Nanomedicine: Current Forecasting Frameworks for Nanoparticle–Biology Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Predictive models successfully screen nanoparticles for toxicity and cellular uptake. Yet, complex biological dynamics and sparse, nonstandardized data limit their accuracy. The field urgently needs integrated artificial intelligence/machine learning, systems biology, and open‐access data protocols to bridge the gap between materials science and safe ...

ALDEHID DEHIDROGENASE DALAM TIKUS WISTAR SEBAGAI BIOMARKER AWAL KONSUMSI ALKOHOL SECARA AKUT

open access: yesJurnal Biologi Udayana, 2011
Research on oral consumption of alcohol on rat Wistar was done to examine level of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) in rat serum. The research design was true randomized experimental post test only control group design.

Multipathway modulation of neuroinflammation and oxidative stress by hesperidin in a rat single prolonged stress model of post‐traumatic stress disorder

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Single prolonged stress (SPS) induces post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)‐like neuropathology characterized by oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, astrocytic reactivity, neuronal damage, and reduced neurotrophic support in the hippocampus, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex. Hesperidin counteracts these effects by attenuating lipid peroxidation and pro‐

Strategies for inducing diabetes in laboratory animals: Advances from chemical, surgical, immunologic, dietary, and genetic approaches

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the principal experimental approaches used to induce diabetes in animal models. Strategies include chemical agents (streptozotocin, alloxan, dithizone, gold thioglucose), dietary interventions (high‐fat and high‐sugar diets), surgical methods (total or partial pancreatectomy), genetic models (db/db, ob/ob, Goto‐Kakizaki [GK ...

Endocrine disturbances in induced Fenvalerate toxicity in rats and its amelioration with Withania somnifera [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2010
The present study was carried out to investigate endocrine disturbances in female rats with 20% EC fenvalerate. Significant (P<0.05) decrease in T3, T4 and E2 levels in all fenvalerate treated groups when compared to control groups.

Sappanwood extract modulates hepatic structure–function in hepatomegaly and hepcidin related iron regulatory pathways in a phenylhydrazine induced hemolytic anemia rat model relevant to thalassemia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Phenylhydrazine (PHZ) induces hemolytic anemia characterized by increased erythrocyte destruction and ineffective erythropoiesis, leading to hepcidin suppression through disruption of the BMP/SMAD signaling pathway. Reduced hepcidin levels enhance intestinal iron absorption and hepatic iron accumulation, leading to hepatic iron overload.
