Tumor-Induced Anorexia in the Wistar Rat
Science, 1981The transplantable Leydig cell tumor of Wistar rats, LTW(m), caused decreased food consumption and weight loss in the host within 2 weeks of implantation. The tumor was small, did not metastasize, and did not affect several parameters of biochemical function.

Teratogenic Effect of Semicarbazide in Wistar Rats
Neonatology, 1986Five groups of pregnant Wistar rats were injected intraperitoneally with a single dose of semicarbazide (SC) on day 5, 7, 10, 13, or 15 of gestation. The lots in each group received either 50, 75, 100 or 150 mg/kg SC. A sixth group received 17 mg/kg of the drug during the entire course of pregnancy.

Antidiabetic Activity of Afobazole in Wistar Rats
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2018Using the streptozotocin model of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Wistar rats, we compared antidiabetic activity of anxiolytic Afobazole with that of metformin. Afobazole in a dose of 10 mg/kg reduced streptozotocin-induced hyperglycemia and polyphagia and prevented accumulation of malonic dialdehyde, being not inferior to metformin in a dose of 300 mg/kg,

Lymphoproliferative lesions in BB Wistar rats
Metabolism, 1983Fifteen percent of long-term diabetic BB Wistar rats developed abdominal B cell lymphoproliferative lesions which ranged from minute mesenteric aggregates of plasma cells and lymphocytes to malignant lymphoma with features of immunoblastic sarcoma or plasma-cell lymphoma.

Sleeve Gastrectomy Model in Wistar Rats
Obesity Surgery, 2007Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) has been used for the surgical treatment of morbid obesity, as a first step or as a definitive treatment. The objective of this pilot study was to establish an animal model for SG in Wistar rats.12 male Wistar rats were operated on.

Hyponeophagia in Wistar Kyoto (WKY) Rats
Physiology & Behavior, 1994Unconditioned suppression of feeding due to novelty (hyponeophagia) was studied in Wistar Kyoto (WKY), Lewis, Fischer 344, and Wistar rats. Fasted rats were given access to food either in home cages (controls) or to a single pellet fixed to the middle of a novel open field environment (experimental).

Toxicology Reference Data for the Wistar Rat
1982Sixty-six observations on Wistar rats, including body and organ weights, biochemistry, hematology, and urinalysis have been compiled over a period of 16 years. A statistical analysis of these observations involved 3,400 Wistar rats that served as controls in toxicity studies.
