Protective effect of leukotriene receptor antagonist montelukast on smoking-induced lung injury in Wistar rats. [PDF]
Increased activation of alveolar macrophage, neutrophil and mast cell has been proven in cigarette smoking (CS)-related lung disorders (CSLD). An increased production of cysteinyl-leukotrienes (LTs), which are mediators secreted from the mentioned cells,

Dilated cardiomyopathy in a wistar rat.
A 57-week-old male Wistar rat died one week before the end of a toxicity study. Necropsy revealed subcutaneous edema, hydrothorax, dilatation of all cardiac chambers, and congestion in several organs. Light and electron microscopic examinations revealed myocardial hypertrophy, degeneration, fibrosis, and disruption of myofibrils and variable sized ...

This study presents a novel implantable drug delivery systemwith a biodegradable poly(caprolactone) membrane and compressed drug core forsustained release. These implantable devices deliver risperidone in vitro for 170 days and in vivo for 49 days in rats, showing promise for chronic conditions like schizophrenia.

Flexible, biocompatible PVDF nanofibers embedded with magnetite nanodiscs enable wireless magnetoelectric neuromodulation. Shape anisotropy of the nanodiscs facilitates magnetostrictive strain transfer under alternating magnetic fields, allowing activation of neurons in vitro and behavioral modulation in vivo, without requiring rigid implants or ...

This study presents a superhydrophilic 3D‐printed hollow microneedle patch for continuous interstitial fluid (ISF) extraction and on‐patch biomarker sensing. Combining projection micro‐stereolithography and chemical vapor deposition, high‐resolution microneedles with enhanced wettability are fabricated, enabling passive ISF uptake without external ...
