The Withdrawal of UN Peace Operations and State Capacity: Descriptive Trends and Research Challenges [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Peacekeeping, 2020
While United Nations Peace Operations (UN POs) have moved away from traditional, security-focused mandates in the last generation of peace missions, most research on the effectiveness of peace miss...

Protective Effect of Exercise on Liver Oxidative Stress, Inflammation and Histopathological Changes after Morphine Withdrawal in ‎Rats

open access: yesJournal of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, 2022
Background and purpose: The harmful effects of morphine on the liver after withdrawal syndrome are unclear. In this experiment, we investigated the effects of exercise on oxidative stress, liver inflammation, liver enzymes, and liver histology after ...

Inestigation on withdrawal strength and moment resistance of mortise and tenon joint [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات علوم چوب و کاغذ ایران, 2009
The influence withdrawal strength and bending moment of mortise and tenon joint is investigated. Based on vast application of this type of different length of joint, the effect of tenon lengths (20 , 30, 40, mm) and wood type (beech, alder, spruce) These ...

Medical education and law: withholding/withdrawing treatment from adults without capacity

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, 2015
AbstractBackgroundLaw is increasingly involved in clinical practice, particularly at the end of life, but undergraduate and postgraduate education in this area remains unsystematic. We hypothesised that attitudes to and knowledge of the law governing withholding/withdrawing life‐sustaining treatment from adults without capacity (the WWLST law) would ...

Parent Quality of Life at Two Years Following Their Child's Completion of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Parents of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often experience significant caregiver burden and disruption to their well‐being. While parent quality of life (QoL) during treatment is well characterized, little is known about outcomes during early survivorship.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Immunological monitoring of renal transplant recipients to predict acute allograft rejection following the discontinuation of tacrolimus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
BACKGROUND: Transplant patients would benefit from reduction of immunosuppression providing that graft rejection is prevented. We have evaluated a number of immunological markers in blood of patients in whom tacrolimus was withdrawn after renal ...

Effect of β-Blocker Withdrawal on Functional Capacity in Heart Failure and Preserved Ejection Fraction

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2021
Chronotropic incompetence has shown to be associated with a decrease in exercise capacity in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), yet β-blockers are commonly used in HFpEF despite the lack of robust evidence. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of β-blocker withdrawal on peak oxygen consumption (peak Vo2) in patients with HFpEF ...

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a
