Temperature control and energy-saving efficiency evaluation of low-energy warm-mix asphalt mixtures with composite additives

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Traditional warm-mix asphalt (WMA) faces challenges in reducing mixing temperatures to achieve lower energy consumption. To address this challenge and meet global environmental goals, this study designs various composite warm-mix additives using commonly

The pandemic generation: Investigating the long‐term impact of a large‐scale stressor on the anxiety of children

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background As a large‐scale global stressor, the COVID‐19 pandemic has a substantial impact on the mental health of children and adolescents. In this longitudinal study we investigate long‐term trajectories of anxiety of children during and after the pandemic (April 2020–April 2023), and identify associated risk factors. Methods A total of 514

Properties of WMA–foam mixes based on major mechanical tests / Šiltai maišyto asfalto mišinių, gaminamų pagal putoto bitumo technologiją (WMA-Foam), savybės remiantis pagrindiniais mechaniniais bandymais

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2011
One of the main advantages of warm mix asphalt (WMA) used as an alternative to conventional hot mix asphalt (HMA), is to reduce mixing and compaction temperatures. This laboratory study was conducted with the aim of determining physical properties of WMA

Wild pig habitat use impacted by prescribed fire in the William B. Bankhead National Forest, USA

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Natural resource management activities like integrated wild pig control programs and 3–5‐year interval prescribed burning can reduce wild pig activity and habitat but can have an unintended side effect of allowing them to thrive in sensitive and protected areas, where access and tools are restricted.

The impact of the first COVID-19 lockdown on weight management practices in UK adults: A self-regulation perspective

open access: yesHealth Psychology Open, 2023
This study aimed to identify the impact of the first UK COVID-19 lockdown on individuals’ weight management attempts (WMA). A self-regulation theoretical framework was used to identify predictors of continuing with a WMA, and weight change during the ...

Population dynamics, survival, and movements of Texas tortoises in a national park in southern Texas

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Texas tortoise abundance in a small national park in South Texas, USA, declined by >25%, from an estimated 273 tortoises in 2014 to 204 tortoises in 2024. The severity of the decline varied across survey units, but abundance remained highest in areas having greater canopy cover and experiencing less invasion by Guinea grass.
