THE ECOLOGICAL IMPACT OF TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
There is a long-standing debate over whether new roads unavoidably lead to environmental damage, especially forest loss, but causal identification has been elusive.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Properties of Laminated Composite Panels Made from Fast-Growing Species Glued with Mangium Tannin Adhesive

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
Laminated composite is a wood panel constructed from timber pieces then are laminated together. Bio-adhesives such as tannin adhesive are a potential alternative to synthetic adhesives.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Compressive Behavior of Wood-based 2-D Lattice Structure under Multivariable Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Bioresources and Bioproducts, 2019
In order to optimize the out-of-plane compression performance of the wood structure, wood-based 2-D lattice structures were designed and manufactured with oriented strand board as the panel and birch round stick as the core by using a simple insert-glue ...

Moisture behaviour and biological durability of wood‐polymer composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In recent years wood-polymer composites appears at the European market more frequently, mainly in decking applications as an alternative for durable tropical hardwood decking.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Evaluation of Dynamic Modulus of Elasticity of Medium Density Fiberboard Panel from Longitudinal Vibration Tests on Specimens

open access: yesBioResources, 2014
It is preferred to perform conformity assessment of wood-based panels on the whole panel without cutting it down to smaller pieces. The modulus of elasticity, a mechanical property of wood, was determined by longitudinal vibration testing with the full ...

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.
