Comparative studies on the durability and moisture performance of wood modified with cyclic N-methylol and N-methyl compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Glyoxal-based condensation resins like 1,3-dimethylol-4,5-dihydroxyethyleneurea (DMDHEU) have been used to modify wood and improve its resistance against decaying fungi.

Influence of chemical treatment on dimensional stability of narrow-leaved ash - part one: Tangential swelling [PDF]

open access: yesGlasnik Šumarskog Fakulteta: Univerzitet u Beogradu, 2012
Dimensional change in wood occurs with the change in hygroscopic moisture content, as a consequence of available hydroxyl groups in wood constituents, allowing for the hydrogen bonding with water molecules.

Pelletization of Compost from Different Mixtures with the Addition of Exhausted Extinguishing Powders

open access: yesAgronomy, 2021
Today, in Europe, there is still no industrial process to favor the distribution of exhausted extinguishing powders (EEP). Extinguishing powders (EP) are the most common extinguishing agents and are composed of very fine particles (90% is less than 0.250

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Use of waste plastics for the preparation of adhesives for wood bonding

open access: yesLes, 2020
There is more and more plastic waste, so we try to find different ways to recycle and reuse it. Recycled thermoplastic polymers represent an interesting potential for the production of adhesives, so the aim of our preliminary investigations was to ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

SURVIVAL OF DIFFERENT BACTERIAL SPECIES ON DIFFERENT INANIMATE SURFACES STORED AT DIFFERENT CONDITIONS: (I) SURVIVAL OF Escherichia coli ON VARIOUS SOLID SURFACES STORED AT TWO TEMPERATURES.

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 1994
Survival of E. coli (0114:K90) on each of glass, wood, polystyrene and metal surfaces  surfaces was studied. Artificially contaminated  contaminated surfaces were stored at both 4°C and room temperature (18-20°C), and samples from cach surface ...
