Biological degradation of resin acids in wood chips by wood-inhabiting fungi [PDF]
Resin acids in many pulp mill effluents are primary sources of toxicity to fish. Inconsistent biological detoxification of chlorinated and nonchlorinated resin acids in secondary treatment of pulp mill effluents is a continuing source of concern. An alternative approach to effluent detoxification is to remove or modify the toxic compounds present in ...

What if human skin could remain fully alive and functional outside the body for weeks? A New Alternative Method (NAM) based on a vascularized full‐thickness skin microphysiological system achieves precisely this, preserving native vasculature, resident immunity, and metabolic activity for up to three weeks, while faithfully recapitulating radiation ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

PRODUCTION OF WOOD ENERGY BY CHIPPING
Increasing demand for using renewable energy resources is strongly emphasized during the last decades. On the international level it is recognized through a series of conventions, conclusions and recommendations. Forests are energy source through conversion of wood biomass into solid, fluent and gaseous fuels for industrial and household use.

Vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) are limited in speed by ion‐impermeable metal electrodes that slow ion injection. Using ion‐permeable PBFDO top electrodes allows direct vertical ion injection into BBL channels, achieving high current densities (>400 A cm−2), large on/off ratios (>106), and ultrafast switching in 28 µs. This sets a

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.
