Surface colour change in wood during drying above and below fibre saturation point
A technique, useful for studying the formation of kiln brown stain in wood drying, has been developed to measure the surface colour change in a single board wood sample during drying. The wood sample is planed carefully in the green state to remove any

Finishing of thermally modified wood [PDF]
An exterior wood finish can be an effective way to reduce thermally modified wood’s sensitivity to ultra violet light. But, which finish is the most resistant at preventing premature graying?

ABSTRACT Objective Neurochemical levels measured by brain MR spectroscopy (MRS) have been proposed as endpoints for clinical trials in early‐stage spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) trials. We tested their trial‐readiness by quantifying neurochemicals in three affected brain regions in early‐stage cohorts of SCA2 and SCA3, examining their reproducibility in ...

Colour responses to heat-treatment of extractives and sap from pine and spruce [PDF]
Scandinavian sawmills have over the last 20 years adopted ever-higher temperatures in the dry kilns. The reason for this has been improvements in drying quality and kiln capacity.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.
