Evolution of substrate-specific gene expression and RNA editing in brown rot wood-decaying fungi. [PDF]
Fungi that decay wood have characteristic associations with certain tree species, but the mechanistic bases for these associations are poorly understood.

Critical moisture conditions for fungal decay of modified wood by basidiomycetes as detected by pile tests [PDF]
The aim of cell wall modification is to keep wood moisture content (MC) below favorable conditions for decay organisms. However, thermally modified, furfurylated, and acetylated woods partly show higher MCs than untreated wood in outdoor exposure.

Wood decomposer basidiomycetes are the major agents of lignocellulose decomposition in dead wood. As their interspecific interaction affects wood decomposition, difference in interaction area may alter the magnitude of the effects.

Decay of Wood by the Dacrymycetales [PDF]
Forty-one strains representing sixteen species in the Dacrymycetales were tested for their abilities to decay wood using the soil block test. Dacrymyces stillatus, D. capitatus, D. dictyosporus, Dacryopinax spathularia, Cerinomyces ceraceus and Calocera cornea and C. lutea caused considerable decay of wood. Dacrymyces palmatus, D. minor, D.

Isolation and Characterisation of Bacterial Metabolites as Potential Wood Preservatives [PDF]
The durability of wood has traditionally relied on the use of heavy metals and toxic compounds to deter wood degrading fungi. Conventional wood preservatives such as Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) have been widely used to control wood degrade for many ...

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Tree crown architecture: a tool for decay resistance evaluation [PDF]
The variability of natural durability contributes to the bad perception of some wood end-users. In our search, we need to adjust our methods and strategies to estimate natural durability and extract higher value from wood resources.

Genetic parameters for lignin, extractives and decay in Eucalyptus globulus [PDF]
Eucalyptus globulus is grown in temperate regions of the world for pulp production. The chemical composition of its wood including the proportion of cellulose, lignin and extractives, make it highly suited to this purpose.

Circumstantial evidence is presented which indicates that Polyporus volvatus is parasitic. Cultures of Polyporus volvatus and Fomes igniarius may be obtained from the young sporophores by the tissue method. In Polyporus volvatus the presence of the following enzymes was demonstrated: esterase, maltase, lactase, sucrase ...

KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...
