Transcriptional regulation in wood formation
Trends in Plant Science, 2007Wood (i.e. xylem tissue) in trees is mainly composed of two types of cells, fibres and tracheary elements. Recent molecular studies of various trees, as well as the non-tree species Arabidopsis thaliana and Zinnia elegans, have revealed coordinated gene expression during differentiation of these cells in wood and the presence of several transcription ...

Systems genetics of wood formation
Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2016In woody plants, xylogenesis is an exceptionally strong carbon sink requiring robust transcriptional control and dynamic coordination of cellular and metabolic processes directing carbon allocation and partitioning into secondary cell wall biosynthesis.

Lignin and the formation of wood

Developmental genetic, genomic and biochemical approaches in Populus are providing new insights into the molecular and genetic mechanisms regulating wood formation. We discuss here wood properties, new approaches for the study of wood formation, and the genes and hormones responsible for regulating wood formation in Populus.

NOx FORMATION IN GRATE COMBUSTION OF WOOD
Clean Air: International Journal on Energy for a Clean Environment, 2003NOx formation in a bed of fuel particles is studied by modeling and by experiments with a continuously weighted pot furnace. The bed was ignited at the top and ignition front propagated down against the airflow. A sharp decrease in NO was usually detected just after the ignition wave reached the bottom of the bed.
