Performance improvement of poplar wood based on the synergies of furfurylation and polyethylene glycol impregnation

Holzforschung, 2022
Fast-growing wood usually exhibits dimensional instability and inferior mechanical strength, which severely obstructs its wide application. To improve the dimensional stability and mechanical strength, biomass-derived furfuryl alcohol combined with ...

Boron impregnation treatment of Eucalyptus grandis wood

Bioresource Technology, 2007
Eucalyptus grandis is suitable for small timber purposes, but its wood is reported to be non-durable and difficult to treat. Boron compounds being diffusible, and the vacuum-pressure impregnation (VPI) method being more suitable for industrial-scale treatment, the possibility of boron impregnation of partially dry to green timber was investigated using

Effects of hemicellulose removal combined with polyethylene glycol impregnation on dimensional stability of wood

Wood Material Science & Engineering, 2022
To investigate the combined effects of hemicellulose removal and polyethylene glycol (PEG) impregnation on the dimensional stability of wood, Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook. was hydrothermally treated and vacuum-impregnated with PEG.

Effects of Potassium Hydroxide Impregnation on Wood Pyrolysis

Energy & Fuels, 2009
The pyrolysis of a packed bed of fir wood particles, after impregnation with KOH, is investigated. For a heating temperature of 800 K, maximum variations in the pyrolysis characteristics are observed for KOH concentrations in wood below 1%. Decomposition temperatures become lower (35−70 K), and conversion times are rapidly more than halved.
