Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Dual morphology (fibres and particles) cellulosic filler for WPC materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Wood-plastic composites (WPC) were fabricated by using a polyethylene (PE) matrix and filling it with wood flour in the amount of 30 wt.%, and compared with the same composites with further amount of 10 wt.% of cellulosic recycled fibres added.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Materials Selection in Biophilic Building Design: Multisensory Perception and Psycho-Physical Mapping of Wood Materials

open access: yesBuildings
The selection of building materials increasingly prioritizes aesthetic and comfort-related experiences, yet the perceptual pathways linking physical properties to emotional judgments remain underexplored, particularly among Chinese users.

Enhancing the performance of beech-timber concrete hybrids by a wood surface pre-treatment using sol-gel chemistry

open access: yesHeliyon, 2018
Timber-concrete composites require reliable connections between both components, which are usually obtained by metal fasteners or slots in the wood. In this study, an alternative approach is presented based on a fully glued connection in combination with

Ceiling-Floor Partition Separation: What Is It and Why Is It Occurring? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
This publication is intended to increase the understanding of cracking or separation of finish materials occasionally found in light-frame wood construction. In many cases, the problem is caused by shrinking or swelling of the wood framing members due to

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Water training initiates spatially regulated microstructures with competitive mechanics in hydroadaptive polymers

open access: yesNature Communications
The strategy using water as a medium for dynamic modulation of competitive plasticity and viscoelasticity provides a unique perspective to attain adaptive materials.

Stress and failure analysis of composite materials using finite element method: a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology in Production Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
In early history, it was found that combinations of materials would produce properties in those materials that were superior to those of the separate components themselves.

Strength and deformation modification factors of wood based composites for engineering design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper summarizes some of the findings from a comprehensive study concerning the performance of wood based composites in building construction. The presentation only focuses on the strength and deformation modification factors for engineering design ...
