Use of recycled plastics in wood plastic composites – A review
Waste Management, 2013The use of recycled and waste thermoplastics has been recently considered for producing wood plastic composites (WPCs). They have great potential for WPCs manufacturing according to results of some limited researches. This paper presents a detailed review about some essential properties of waste and recycled plastics, important for WPCs production, and

Journal of Thermoplastic Composite Materials, 2013
This study uses coir from agricultural waste, electromagnetic shielding carbon fiber, impact-resistant polypropylene (PP), and methylmaleic anhydride- grafted PP (MA- g-PP) to make wood plastic composites (WPCs). According to the experimental results, when coir and carbon fiber are at a ratio of 3:12, the resulting WPC exhibits an maximum ...

WOOD–PLASTIC COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY
2021Wood–plastic composites (WPCs) are a form of composite combining wood-based elements with polymers. The processes for manufacturing WPCs include extrusion, injection molding, and compression molding or thermoforming (pressing). Newer manufacturing processes for WPCs include additive manufacturing via fused layer modeling and laser sintering.

Wood plastic composite using graphene nanoplatelets
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2013This article presents the preparation and characterization of wood flour/polypropylene (PP) composites filled with graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs). The effects of GNPs, as reinforcing agent, on the mechanical and physical properties were also investigated.

Characterization of Wood and Wood-Plastic Composite
Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, 1999Abstract Wood-plastic composites (WE) were prepared with low-grade wood (kadom, simul, and mango) of Bangladesh and MMA (methyl methacry-late) under Co-60 gamma irradiation with a 3-Mrad dose (800 krad/h). Polymer loading and tensile properties of the composites were determined and the effect of urea and N-vinyl pyrrolidone (NVP) on these properties ...

Terahertz optical properties of wood–plastic composites
Applied Optics, 2020Terahertz (THz) optical materials containing polymeric materials have been useful for terahertz technologies. We investigated the THz optical properties of wood–plastic composites (WPCs), which are composed of polystyrene and wood powder, and their suitability as THz optical materials.

Enhanced wood plastic composites
2013In the study, two wood fibre types, bleached softwood kraft pulp (BSKP) and thermomechanical pulp (TMP) with fibre lengths of 2.28 and 1.40 mm, respectively, were melt processed with poly(lactic acid) (PLA) using a twin-screw extruder to fibre content of 30 wt-% and injection moulded.

Weathering of High-Density Polyethylene-Wood Plastic Composites
Journal of Wood Chemistry and Technology, 2013Due to widespread use of wood-plastic composites, high density polyethylene-wood flour composites (HDPE/WF) were studied in order to determine their stability in different application conditions. UV degradation and periodic absorption/desorption of moisture cause damaging changes to material during WPCs exterior application so it is needed to ensure ...
