Bonding Quality of Fiber-Wood Interface with Wood Adhesives
Advanced Materials Research, 2010Effects of fiber fabric type, glue spread, adhesive kind and angle between carbon fiber and wood grain on bonding quality of fiber-wood interface were investigated to make it clear whether wood adhesive can be used in fiber reinforced wood products. Four different kinds of fiber fabric were bonded into poplar sample with three different adhesives and ...

During the 20th century, the Pacific Northwest (western Oregon and Washington, coastal British Columbia, and southeastern Alaska) produced some of the highest quality timber in North America. Forests were old and trees were large; wood products from this region were easily distinguished from those made from timber produced in other regions in North ...

Wood quality of durable eucalypts
2021Eucalypts are used globally on a larger scale for pulpwood than for sawn timber. They are known for high growth stresses which have limited its value and productivity as sawn timber. Previous studies have addressed the growth stress problem in some species but not at a large scale, as they are time consuming and costly to measure.

Wood-burning appliances and indoor air quality
Science of The Total Environment, 2001Wood heating represents an interesting economic alternative to electrical or heating oil and gas systems. However, many people are concerned about poor indoor air quality in homes equipped with wood-burning appliances. We conducted a study in the Quebec City region (Canada) to verify the extent of indoor air contamination, and to examine the frequency ...

Methodology of Virtual Wood Piece Quality Evaluation
2015This paper presents a way to evaluate the quality of virtual wood products according to their tomographic image. The main objective is to anticipate a sawmill divergent process in order to enhance the production plan. From a virtual representation of the product, singularity features are extracted and their impact on the product virtual quality is ...

Quality of Wood‐Pressed Rapeseed Oil
Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 2017AbstractThis study is the first report on the quality indices of Chinese wood‐pressed rapeseed oil. Nineteen representative wood‐pressed rapeseed oil samples (representing 80% of the factories that produce this oil in China) were collected and investigated for their physicochemical properties (acid value, peroxide value, color value, and oxidative ...

The growth rate of trees in a plantation depends on the species planted, the environmental conditions of the site and the silvicultural practices that are employed. For plantations being grown for the production of wood for industrial purposes (mainly building materials and paper), the fastest growing would have an annual growth rate increasing ...

Bond quality at the FRP–wood interface using wood-laminating adhesives
International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2009Abstract Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP)-strengthened glulam would be a more economically viable product if a single adhesive type could be utilised at all the bonded interfaces. This paper describes a test programme that examines the hygrothermal compliance of five commercial wood-laminating adhesives when bonding commercially viable FRP materials to
