Assessing the in Planta Efficacy of Oxathiapiprolin as a Potential Treatment for Kauri Dieback Disease

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 14, Issue 5, October 2025.
We tested the oomycide oxathiapiprolin as a protective and curative agent against kauri dieback disease (caused by Phytophthora agathidicida) in Agathis australis seedlings. Protective application of oxathiapiprolin (10 or 50 mg per seedling) effectively prevented disease, but it did not cure existing infections.

Dimensions of Wooden Dowels as Fastening Constructions of Wooden Boat

open access: yes, 2008
Generally, wooden boat building was conducted by craftsman from Bulukumba ethnic (Ara and Lemo-lemo). Phinisi boat is constructed traditionally but its constructions have strength enough. Fastening plank to keel and then plank to plank in traditional way is done by wooden dowels.

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of Wooden Construction Elements’ Connections on Dowel Plates

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract Improvement of dowel joints in order to increase their load-carrying capacity and reliability at the present time remains actual one. A special place among them is occupied by connections with the use of dowel plates. In order to increase the bearing capacity of metal nailed plates developed in NGASU (Sibstrin) with the use of ...

Modifying Large Molecule Release From Hydrogels Using Microcapillary Channels Patterned With Microfibrous Templates

open access: yesPolymers for Advanced Technologies, Volume 36, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Tuning the bulk properties of hydrogels is essential to applying them as tools for regenerative medicine. Patterning microscale pores into hydrogels provides an avenue for modifying the mechanical and transport properties of the whole gel while preserving the properties of its polymeric network.

Lateral Load Resistance of Laminated Veneer Lumber Sengonwooden Joints with Wooden Dowels

open access: yesMakara Journal of Technology, 2015
Analytical models for wooden-doweled joints need to be developed. The objective of this research is to determine whether the strength of wooden-doweled joints can be well predicted by equations developed for steel-doweled joints. In this experiment, various connection parameters, such as dowel diameter, species of the wooden dowel, and angle of joints,

Edge Effects and Pitfall Trap Design Influence Spider Diversity and Assemblages in Canola Agroecosystems on the Canadian Prairies

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
Spiders are important generalist predators in canola agroecosystems, but their diversity remains poorly studied on the Canadian Prairies. We surveyed spider assemblages in the Aspen Parkland region and tested pitfall trap modifications to improve sampling.

THE EFFECTS OF EDGE BANDING THICKNESS OF ULUDAG FIR BONDED WITH SOME ADHESIVES ON WITHDRAWAL STRENGTHS OF BEECH DOWEL PINS IN COMPOSITE MATERIALS

open access: yesBioResources, 2009
Composite materials and wooden dowels are being used increasingly in the construction of furniture frames and inner decoration. Yet there is little information available concerning the withdrawal strength of various fasteners, and, in particular, dowels ...

Seismic Performance of Lightweight Steel Shear Walls With Gypsum Sheathing: Experimental Investigation

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 54, Issue 11, Page 2900-2926, September 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the structural performance of cold‐formed steel (CFS) shear walls sheathed with gypsum panels, in accordance with the forthcoming Eurocode 8 seismic design guidelines for ductility class 3 (DC3) buildings. Utilizing a multiscale experimental approach, the research involved material testing, component‐level evaluations ...
