Comprehensive analysis of the circular RNA expression profile and circRNA–miRNA–mRNA network in the goat skin with divergent wool curvature

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health
Wool curvature is one of the most valuable characteristics of Zhongwei goat fur. As the goats grow, the curvature progressively diminishes, which has a substantial impact on the quality and market value of wool.

Testimonial: Wool production & biodiversity working together for Rob & Lucy Adams - 'Swallowfield'

open access: yes, 2011
Rob and Lucy Adams own and manage 'Swallowfield' and nearby 'Tulloch', which were purchased by Rob's parents in 1970-73. Fifteen per cent of 'Swallowfield' is regularly cropped or sown to pasture, 30% is timbered and the balance is fertilised native ...

Whole‐House Thermal Bridge Modelling for Accurate Retrofit Energy Prediction

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study models thermal bridging in a UK semi‐detached house across pre‐ and post‐retrofit scenarios using piecemeal and whole‐house approaches with EWI and IWI. Whole‐house retrofits reduce heat transfer coefficient by 60%; findings demonstrate that default values are often unrepresentative and advocate tailored Ψ value databases.

The Critical Role of Economies of Scale: A Techno‐Economic Assessment of Small‐ Versus Large‐Scale Biogas Upgrading in Rural Tanzania

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Small‐scale biogas upgrading can improve methane quality but remains financially unattractive to individual rural households. Community‐scale implementation substantially lowers energy costs, demonstrating that economies of scale are critical to making purified biogas a viable clean‐cooking option in Tanzania.

Pastures on New England wool properties

open access: yes, 2011
Pastures are the engine room of every grazing property. As part of the Land, Water & Wool (LWW) Northern Tablelands Project (NSW), pasture composition was assessed in relation to land management and environmental factors on Monitor farms.

An Experimental Study of Thermal Energy Storage With Phase‐Change Material in a Rectangular Box Filled With Aluminum Foam

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
We experimentally evaluate a rectangular latent‐heat thermal energy storage box filled with paraffin RT57. Embedding 1–3 aluminum‐foam pieces (ε ≈ 0.89 and 10 PPI) increases effective thermal conductivity, making the temperature field more uniform and accelerating phase change.

Genetic parameters for wool traits in Finnsheep lambs

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 2008
Genetic parameters were estimated for wool characteristics of white and coloured Finnsheep. The data consisted of 5 309 lambs from ordinary production flocks, the Finnsheep nucleus flock and a breeding flock.
