Comparing the Identification of Recommendations by Different Accident Investigators Using a Common Methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Accident reports play a key role in the safety of complex systems. These reports present the recommendations that are intended to help avoid any recurrence of past failures. However, the value of these findings depends upon the causal analysis that helps

Optical Fiber‐Based Versatile Wearable Force Myography System: Application to Human–Robot Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A compact and flexible wearable force myography sensor based on optical fiber technology detects muscle activity through pressure‐induced light loss. The sensor offers high sensitivity for detecting subtle force and finger motion changes, along with excellent signal stability under dynamic and sweating conditions.

Nonplanar Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD)‐Niobium Oxide (NbOx) Neurons for Oscillatory Neural Network Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a nonplanar niobium oxide (NbOx) neuron device fabricated using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) method for use in oscillatory neural networks (ONNs). Potentially, such nonplanar geometry allows for high‐density arrays. The desired threshold switching (TS) characteristics are achieved through an interfacial method using a thin ...

Syndrome of the Month: An Update on Smith‐Kingsmore Syndrome: Characterization of Developmental Milestones and a Review of the Literature

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Smith‐Kingsmore syndrome (SKS) is a rare autosomal dominant condition characterized by neurodevelopmental differences, macrocephaly/megalencephaly, describable facial features, sleep–wake abnormalities, hyperphagia, and overgrowth. SKS is caused by pathogenic gain‐of‐function variants in MTOR which lead to hyperactivation of the mTOR pathway ...

Molecular Cages as Probes in Indicator Displacement Assays: The Case of Scopolamine Detection

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In this research, we show the concept of molecular cages as probes in indicator displacement assays, focusing on scopolamine detection, a drug often used in drug‐facilitated sexual assaults. Drug sensing occurs via the drug‐induced transformation of non‐emissive [Fluorescein2⊂Cage] complex into [Scopolamine⊂Catenane] and highly emissive free ...
