The Influence of Circumferential Waviness of the Diamond Wheel Working Surface on the Machined Surface Roughness

Journal of Superhard Materials, 2019
The authors investigate the potential of damping down the undulating change of form of a diamond wheel working surface by dressing it with a single-point diamond tool. This is shown to alter the machined surface roughness parameters, namely: the height parameters decrease, the spacing of the profile irregularities and the parameters of the reference ...

Relationship of the Profile of the Working Surface of a Diamond Wheel with the Quality of the Grinded Surface of Al2O3–TiC-Ceramics

Refractories and Industrial Ceramics, 2021
The main elements of the working surface of the diamond wheel after grinding Al2O3–TiC-ceramics are revealed and their parameters are investigated. Using the developed technique, topographic maps, projections of grains, and transverse and integral profiles for the selected sections of the working surface of the diamond wheel were constructed.

A Study of the influence of plasma treatment on the working surface of superabrasive grinding wheels

Journal of Superhard Materials, 2010
The paper addresses the effect of plasma treatment on the working surface of polymer- and metal-bonded superabrasive grinding wheels. The investigation has shown a change in hardness of the wheel surface treated with a plasma jet. The paper provides some data on the performance of plasmatreated grinding tools.

Research on Formation of Microgeometry of Work Surface of Grinding Wheel

2021
As a grinding wheel rotates, every grain acquires a certain trajectory of movement, sequence, and duration of contact with a machined part. The grains can be divided into four groups: working, contacting, screened, and non-operational ones. The main characteristics of formation of the microrelief of the wheel work surface depend on the law of ...

Characterization of the working surface of abrasive wheels

Tribology, 1972
Abstract The assessment of grinding wheel wear behaviour is usually restricted for practical reasons to the measurements of the total reduction in wheel diameter and rarely includes measurements to wheel form and surface microtopography. This article describes a system of measurement and analysis which can provide this more detailed information.

The work of the driving elastic wheel on a deforming surface

Journal of Terramechanics, 1965
Abstract Experiments are described in which the variation of rolling resistance and rolling radius with drawbar pull are measured. It is reported that rolling resistance increases with drawbar pull.
