Sibyl: Forecasting Time-Evolving Query Workloads

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM on Management of Data
Database systems often rely on historical query traces to perform workload-based performance tuning. However, real production workloads are time-evolving, making historical queries ineffective for optimizing future workloads. To address this challenge, we propose SIBYL, an end-to-end machine learning-based framework that accurately forecasts a sequence

Anisotropic Memristive Switching in NbOCl2 Enabled by Directional Oxygen Ion Migration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates strongly orientation‐dependent memristive switching in anisotropic NbOCl2, observed exclusively along the in‐plane c‐axis. The switching originates from direction‐selective oxygen‐ion migration and vacancy propagation that modulate the Pd/NbOCl2 Schottky barrier, enabling short‐term plasticity.

Hydrogen‐Stabilized Self‐Rectifying Memristor Arrays for Reliable Multilevel Synapses in Transformer‐Based Keyword Spotting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A non‐filamentary self‐rectifying HfO2/TiOx resistive random‐access memory integrates H2 annealing with an incremental step pulse with verify algorithm to achieve stable and linear analog conductance modulation. The device enables low‐current 6‐bit multilevel operation while suppressing sneak current in crossbar arrays. Implemented in Transformer‐based

Performance Estimation and Ex Vivo Validation of Untethered Magnetic Robots in Soft Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an empirical model that quantitatively predicts the step‐out frequency of screw‐type untethered magnetic robots (UMRs) in soft viscoelastic environments, including ex vivo brain tissue. By integrating key parameters into a dimensionless framework, the model enables estimation of robot performance across a range of biological ...

Decentralized Edge Workload Forecasting With Gossip Learning

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management
Edge computing has emerged as a crucial paradigm for addressing the growing demands of interconnected devices and large-scale mobile applications by relocating computation and storage services closer to end-users. Edge workloads are inherently volatile and challenging to forecast due to their dependence on factors such as human mobility patterns and ...

Perceived Time Shapes Physical Fatigue Accumulation and Its Neural Oscillatory Correlates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Can a clock change the course of physical fatigue? By covertly manipulating the clock calibration during repeated isometric contractions, we showed that perceived time shapes fatigue accumulation and frontal oscillatory dynamics. While fatigue accumulation was only reduced when the clock was slowed down, frontal oscillatory dynamics followed perceived ...

NICE: A Two‐Step Non‐Invasive Framework for Embryo cfDNA Read Enrichment and Quality Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The non‐invasive NICE framework, built on an ensemble stacking machine learning model, prioritizes embryos by analyzing cell‐free DNA from spent culture medium. By integrating multimodal signals, including genomic and epigenetic profiles, this automated approach standardizes morphological assessment without human bias, paving the way for more precise ...
