Abstract Objective Using a Dutch insurance claims registry, we examine whether people with epilepsy have an increased risk of major ischemic cardiovascular events or death compared to people without epilepsy. This paper identifies social and technological requirements that are required to make the technology inclusive rather than exclusive. In discussing these requirements problems are identified, issues explored and solutions are suggested.
