Development of an Inchworm‐Like Dual‐Balloon‐Assisted Colonoscopic Robot Based on a Two‐Segment Extensible Continuum Section

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents an inchworm‐like dual‐balloon‐assisted colonoscopic robot (IDCR) based on a rod‐driven two‐segment continuum section. The IDCR enables the active straightening of the sigmoid colon through an inchworm‐like locomotion strategy, thereby avoiding loop formation.

Towards Human‐Centered Intelligent Inhabitable Spaces: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This review introduces Robot‐Rooms as a new category of architectural‐scale robots that do not operate within a space but actively form and reconfigure the space around their occupants. Drawing from robotics, HCI, architecture, and the arts, an interdisciplinary framework is proposed that maps the enabling technologies and integration challenges ...

Reinforcement Learning With a Low‐Cost Parallel Linkage Gripper for Static and Dynamic Planar In‐Hand Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Hardware‐learning co‐design combines volar‐plate‐inspired passive‐joint constraints with mechanism‐aware reinforcement learning for a low‐cost parallel‐linkage gripper. The resulting system performs quasi‐static object adjustment and dynamic pinch grasping, demonstrating reliable planar in‐hand manipulation and successful sim‐to‐real transfer. Parallel

A Multidimensional Perspective on Network Conditions in Telesurgery

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A multidimensional framework systematically evaluates how combined network impairments influence telesurgical performance. By jointly analyzing latency, jitter, bandwidth, and packet loss, the proposed methodology identifies relevant network condition parameters and their interactions, supporting the design of reliable and safe telesurgical systems ...
