Fully Additive Vertical Organic Electrochemical Transistors on Renewable and Compostable Substrates Enable Ultrasensitive Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fully additive vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) with channel‐length of 226 nm on a 50 µm compostable substrate achieve >106 current modulation and ∼36 mS transconductance. Ion‐selective integration enables 1.1 mA dec−1 sensitivity and 36 µm detection limit, highlighting a scalable platform for sustainable electronics and ...

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...

Bio‐Inspired Synthesis of Macroporous Single Crystal Particles as Scattering Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A general strategy is presented that delivers unique, single‐crystal microparticles that combine submicron macroporosity and uniform particle shapes. A bioinspired approach is used to occlude three distinct types of additives – polystyrene microspheres, polymer vesicles and amino acids – within calcite single crystals, and subsequent thermal annealing ...

Single‐Step Recovery of Water from Stable Crude Oil‐Water Emulsion Using Surface Engineered Hybrid Inorganic‐Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic layer deposition is used to conformally surface engineer polymeric membranes to fabricate inorganic–organic hybrid membranes. These membranes have exceptionally strong attraction toward water even in high oil containing emulsions, which leads to an extremely strong hydration layer at the interface.

From Global to Alter-Globalist Art History

open access: yesTeksty Drugie, 2015
The author presents a recent discussion on „global art history,” posing some specific questions, whether and in what way it could be created, what is the role of art historical post-colonial studies in such a project, as well as the so called comparative

Crossroads of Cloth: Textile Arts and Aesthetics in and beyond the Medieval Islamic World

open access: yesPerspective, 2016
Textile arts were long neglected by art history as “minor” or “applied” arts; however, the recent turns towards transcultural and global art history, material culture, and a new interest in artifacts have brought increasing attention to textile studies ...

Ultrawide Bandwidth Optomechanical Magnetometry Using Flux Concentration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐permeability flux concentrators enable ultrawide‐bandwidth chip‐scale optomechanical magnetometry by exploiting magnetic nonlinearity to up‐convert low‐frequency fields to the mechanical resonance, where sensitivity is optimal. This enables flat wideband operation over more than four orders of magnitude, from tens of kilohertz to sub‐hertz ...
