Injectable Self‐Healing Antibacterial Bioactive Polypeptide‐Based Hybrid Nanosystems for Efficiently Treating Multidrug Resistant Infection, Skin‐Tumor Therapy, and Enhancing Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, 2019
The surgical procedure in skin‐tumor therapy usually results in cutaneous defects, and multidrug‐resistant bacterial infection could cause chronic wounds.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Research on Strategies for Wound Healing and Infection Control in Skin Disease Nursing [PDF]

open access: yesSHS Web of Conferences
The skin, as the largest organ in the human body, plays multiple roles such as protecting, sensing, and regulating body temperature. Wound healing and infection control are two extremely important links, in the treatment and care of skin diseases ...

Evaluation of Drug Delivery and Efficacy of Ciprofloxacin-Loaded Povidone Foils and Nanofiber Mats in a Wound-Infection Model Based on Ex Vivo Human Skin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Topical treatment of wound infections is often a challenge due to limited drug availability at the site of infection. Topical drug delivery is an attractive option for reducing systemic side effects, provided that a more selective and sustained local ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Ro 31‐8220 suppresses bladder cancer progression via enhancing autophagy in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The pan‐protein kinase C inhibitor Ro‐31‐8220 demonstrates potent anti‐bladder cancer effects both in vitro and in vivo by suppressing migration/invasion, inducing apoptosis and crucially activating autophagy, where blocking autophagy with chloroquine reduces its cell‐killing efficacy, suggesting its promise as a novel therapeutic candidate requiring ...

Polydatin ameliorates ovalbumin‐induced asthma in a rat model through NCOA4‐mediated ferroautophagy and ferroptosis pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this research, a rat model of asthma was created using OVA, and polydatin served as an intervention. By inhibiting ferroautophagy mediated by NCOA4 and averting ferroptosis, polydatin has been demonstrated to reduce asthma. This work presents new ideas for investigating the mechanism of polydatin's ability to alleviate asthma, in addition to ...

Studies on wound healing potential of topical herbal formulations- do we need to strengthen study protocol?

open access: yesJournal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, 2019
Healing of wound is a normal biological process that occurs naturally as long as it is not obstructed by infection. Many monoherbal and polyherbal formulations have been reported to hasten/accelerate wound healing activity in freshly prepared incisional ...
