Condition Monitoring of Wound Rotor Resolvers
2020 28th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE), 2020Resolver is an electromagnetic sensor for calculating position and speed in motion control drive of electrical machines. Due to electromechanical structure of the machine, occurrence of the mechanical faults includes static and dynamic eccentricities (SE, DE) is inevitable. Even an inherent level of SE exists in newly manufactured machines. Furthermore,

The Wound-Rotor Design and Finite Element Analysis of Wound-Rotor Brushless Double-Feed Motor
Advanced Materials Research, 2013In this paper, firstly the operation principle of the brushless double-fed motor is introduced. Secondly by means of the single-pole slot-number phase diagram, the rotor windings are designed and analyzed, and it is proved that the designed motor can assure the equality of the induced branch EMF and satisfy the demands of other electrical properties ...

Control of wound-rotor induction motor with rotor impedance variation
Conference Record of the 1993 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Twenty-Eighth IAS Annual Meeting, 2002It is proposed to modify the performance of a three-phase induction motor, fed from a conventional three-phase supply of constant voltage and frequency, by the use of a network of general, slip-dependent impedances connected externally into the secondary circuit, via slip rings.

Irregular windings in wound rotor induction motors
Electrical Engineering, 1934The importance of using regular windings in polyphase wound rotor induction motors is stressed in this paper. Harmful effects upon the efficiency, power factor, breakdown torque and noise of the motor may result with an irregular winding, due to differential leakage. The Goerges diagram of tooth fluxes is presented for studying this phenomenon.

Control of wound-rotor induction machine
Proceedings of Second International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2002The main goal of this paper is to present a new torque and speed control method of the wound rotor induction machine (WRIM) through the control of the voltage applied to the rotor winding. The method is based on the rotor voltage orientation with respect to current using a converter cascade and a PI controller.

Bifurcation Analysis of the Wound Rotor Induction Motor
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2015This work deals with the bifurcation phenomena that occur during the open-loop operation of a single-fed three-phase wound rotor induction motor. This paper demonstrates the occurrence of saddle-node bifurcation, hysteresis, supercritical saddle-node bifurcation, cusp and Hopf bifurcation during the individual operation of this electromechanical ...

Accurate rotor fault detection in doubly-fed Wound-Rotor Induction Machine
2017 6th International Conference on Clean Electrical Power (ICCEP), 2017Rotor fault diagnosis techniques developed for induction machines (IMs) are classically based on current spectral analysis (CSA). For the case of rotor asymmetry in Wound-Rotor Induction Machine (WRIM), the magnitude of the negative sequence component at -sf of the rotor current space-vector is commonly monitored in order to quantify its contribution ...

Resolver motivated sensorless rotor position estimation of wound rotor synchronous motors
2013 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2013This paper presents a novel approach to sensorless control of wound rotor synchronous motor drives. The proposed rotor position estimation strategy is motivated by principle function of a resolver and utilizes design similarity between the controlled motor and the resolver based rotor position sensor.

Thermal Model and Analysis of Wound-Rotor Induction Machine
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2012This paper presents a simplified thermal model for a wound-rotor induction machine. The thermal model is based on lumped parameters, and the analytical equations for their computation are provided in this paper. The procedures for the thermal model setup have been discussed and validated on a 3.8-hp wound rotor machine, comparing the predicted and ...

Proposal of a 2DOF Wound-Rotor Resolver
IEEE Sensors Journal, 2021Two Degrees of Freedom (2DOF) electrical machines are widely used in robotics. They need position sensors for their electronic commutation and high performance control loop. 2DOF resolvers are the best choice for such applications. Therefore, in this paper a new configuration is proposed for rotational-linear position estimation.
